Postpartum Care

Attentive Postpartum Care

Between recovering from the birth, sleepless nights and normal hormonal fluctuations, the early postpartum period can be challenging for new mothers. One of the benefits of having a midwife is the attentive postpartum care you receive.

Services to expect from your midwife during this time

After the birth, your midwife will follow you and your baby closely. We have a routine schedule of appointments, but you can reach us by pager at any time with urgent concerns, and we will arrange a visit if needed. During this time, your midwife will:

Home Visits

See you at home on approximately the 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th-10th day after you have your baby

Clinic Visits

See you in clinic at 2, 4, and 6 weeks after you have your baby

During the home and clinic visits your midwife will:
  • Offer routine newborn blood work, if needed
  • Monitor your baby’s feeding, weight gain and overall well-being
  • Monitor your well-being and mood
  • Assist with Breastfeeding

Please see our resource page for additional information
